Pitching

Pitching a webisode or any production is a marketing job.  You have to sell executives on your idea verbally, on paper and on the screen.  The idea has to be exciting, different and appealing to audiences and to advertisers.  Executives do not have 30 minutes to discuss your ideas.  They have heard so many ideas that they will probably walk in the room expecting not to buy your idea.  Get the excited about your idea IMMEDIATELY.

TIME LIMIT:  You will only have five to eight minutes to pitch your product.  So, be short and comprehensive with your approach.

ELEVATOR PITCH:  Write a three sentence description of what your webisode is about.  It should be short and comprehensive (meaning it includes everything it can).

The story is about ______ (character) who has a huge problem/goal __________ (tell what the problem/goal is).  In order to solve the problem/reach the goal, s/he does the following things A. B. C. and in the end s/he solves the problem/reaches the goal by doing this ___________ and this is what happens in the end ______.

STORY/SHOW TITLE:  Make up the best title possible starting the title with A, B or C.

STORY DESCRIPTION:  Give a synopsis of the story.  This should not be a long, long paragraph.  Short and comprehensive.

PAYOFF:  What satisfaction will the audience get at the end of the story?

What is the goal of the main character(s)?  This goal must be something they want more than anything in the world.  They must be willing do anything to achieve this goal.

Remember to include CONFLICT!  What stands in their way?  What events stop them from reaching their goals? What obstacles do they have to overcome? Emotional Conflict AND Physical Conflict

How will they react to conflict?  What do they do to overcome obstacles?
